RAM upgrade...

I need help lol.

I have 512 ram (two 256 sticks) and I recently ordered a stick of 256, now I thought I had it all figured out, but I guess not. It is DDR 184PIN PC2100 256mb. Well, I just realized the ram in my cpu now is 3200. Does that make a difference? And when I put the ram in, and try to start the computer back up, the "more ram" screen thingy comes up, saying i have 768 or something like that, then when i press continue, windows never loads up. I waited sooo long for this ram, please tell me i don't have to send it back

i would send it back...if not your computer is going to be really slow anyway because the pc-3200 ram will be forced to run at pc-2100 speeds, which kinda defies the point of getting more ram doesnt it?
