Can I have a remote desktop program set up so that I can watch dvds on my computer using the drive on another computer, but still allowing other use of the computer with the dvd drive?

Yeah, just share the drive over the network, pop the CD in, go to your computer, open the disc, and wollah.

You got to have DVD playing software of course on the computer you want to play it on.

cool

I use VLC, I just right click on the disc, and press "play with VLC" (something along those lines)

It works though, its really handy.

Ive got a little computer downstairs, hooked up the the TV. Its got a direct wireless from this computer, and does not have a CD/DVD drive, has a nice 3.0Ghz Celeron, 512mb RAM and 30GB HDD - with Windows Media Center.

Its great for watching movies, for parties...

But yeah, it works.
