Question

I have a Dell inspiron 1501 and would like to have my screen brighter but can't figure it out. We have another laptop in the house and it's bright.

Usually you can find buttons near your power button that open up a menu. Here you should find refresh rate, brightness, width, height...etc.

There is no buttons on the laptop anywhere.

Oh laptop...right. My fault. Well, when it comes to laptop, usually you there is a key by the alt, ctrl, windows keys on the bottom left of the keyboard. This key has different names, I think the most common is Fn. When you hold this key down, other keys (usually numbers) have different functions. Look around on your keyboard to find something similar.
