when setting the processor affinity in xp or vista everytime you restart the computer do u always have to set the processor affinity again?

umm i think so yh

id actually like to see a good use for this what do u use it for ?

like msn and windows media player on one core and then Windows Defender and norton doing a scan using the other core, which is making use of both core in a gd way instead of both cores doing the same thing

windows dosent do a great job in sorting out the threads for dual or quad cores.

im sure you could download a program to do this on startup

it does an ok job iv sat there wen i put most things on only 1 core and the other core was 0% must of the time, just a shame that it doesnt save it when u restart

I thought awhile ago my buddy had this problem and they had a patch or something. Was having problems with winamp and it cutting out splitting between the cores or something. Been awhile though, sorry.

Best idea if you do programming it write a script to run at startup and change what you want. That's about the only way I can think of.
