N nevermind1534 Daemon Poster Messages 754 Mar 16, 2009 #2 The Q6600 is a great CPU for overclocking. it is also low priced. Do you plan on overclocking it?
OP OP R Rennard Banned Messages 40 Mar 16, 2009 #3 na, i'm only a kid so i'll jsut leave it be, thanks. what processor do you use?
PokerDegenerate Daemon Poster Messages 1,465 Mar 16, 2009 #4 are you just buying a processor to upgrade what you have or are you building a whole computer?
N nevermind1534 Daemon Poster Messages 754 Mar 16, 2009 #5 If you're not going to be overclocking, you might want to look at the Q8200 or Q8300, instead, because they have a higher FSB speed.

If you don't know what overclocking is, you probably shouldn't be doing it. It is raising the speed above what the component(s) is/are rated for. Googling it and reading the wikipedia article may help you.

OP OP R Rennard Banned Messages 40 Mar 19, 2009 #8 o right, thanks. well i won't do that so you recomend the q8200/q8300 then?
N nevermind1534 Daemon Poster Messages 754 Mar 19, 2009 #9 Yes, those are what I recommend to people who aren't going to be doing heavy overclocking.
Holysky Fully Optimized Messages 3,692 Mar 19, 2009 #10 If your not overclocking, i reccomemend a core 2 duo. It ia faster at stock and since your a kid, you won't need to use multi threaded programs. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115206 this should more than effiecient and cheaper
