Problem with shuting down computer

I just installed windows 2000 on my mother computer and everything works fine but everytime I try to shut the computer down it will not turn off. So could someone please help me out fix this problem. Thanks

Can you give more info? Do you mean it goes to the screen where it tells ya its safe to turn off, or do ya mean nothing happens at all, the more info you give us the easier we can help, coz we cant see whats happening on your computer mate.

Anyways, it could just be slow, and you don't have patience. How long do you usually wait? Where does it stop shutting down at?

It could be the type of computer where it gets to a point and you need to hit a button to completely shut it off. I know I had an old Dell that did that. And because you're installing 2000 on it, it seems to be an older computer, so i'd bet you are required to hit that button.
