Problem

i have a problem with my optical drive. I currently am running a sata ata cable that connects somewhere to the front of the computer into the cd drive as long as the power cable from the psu to the cd drive. The cd drive will not open when i turn my computer on and i don't have a OS on my hard drive but have a disk. but i cant boot up because i cannot open the cd drive. what do do?

okay so now i took a new L cable from the cd drive to the moherboard and when i try to pen the drive it makes sounds but doesn't open? It sounds like it is tryin to open but just can't? im not sure if it is the cd drive or anythng else. please help!

I have fixed the problem....but now i put the windows xp professional disk in and after the install it goes to the blue screen of eath and says something like check for viruses. your hard drive might be failing or is incorrectly plugged in. error 0x0000007B I have no clue what i need to do...
