I have a dell inspiron 1545 laptop with a pentuim T3400. I want to upgrade the processor to a intel P8800 the pentuim processor specs from the web site say T3400 fits a pga478 socket and the P8800 fits a ppga478 socket. When I contacted Dell I asked them what processor upgrades were available for my computer they said the T4300 and the T6600 would fit in my computer the intel specs say these processors require a ppga478 socket and my current processor specs says it requires a pga478 socket. My question is this. Will a intel P8800 work in my computer?
The specs on this processor say it is compatable with my chipset it has a lower TDP rating than the one I currently have and the voltages are in compatable ranges. The only difference is T3400 is pga478 and P8800 is ppga478. Please Help!
