Hello hope someone can help here. I have an external hardrive which my PC doesnt seem to recognise.
First some background. The drive was connected to the television and i had accidently left it on for two or three days. I went to watch a movie from the drive but but the TV no longer recognised the drive was plugged in. At that point i realised it had been switched on for some time. The drive was quite warm but not exceedingly hot. I then connected it to my PC with the same result. It made the usual noise when i plugged into the USB socket but failed to boot up in the H drive as per usual. My next step was to try and connect two other external drives to the PC and it didnt recognise them either. So no i think maybe its possibly the docking station and not the drive itself. Can anyone help as to identifying where the actual problem lies and would it be possible to fix at home?
My PC is Windows Vista.
The external hard drive is Western Digital 1.0TB. WD Caviar Green. WD10EARS.
The Docking station is Vantec Nextstar Hard Drive Dock MOdel NST- D100.
Thanks in advance.
