Ordered Fan and now wire is too short!

I just ordered a fan and the wire (three connected; red yellow black) is too short to reach my fan plugin place! Will it work if I just shave the wire on the new fan, shave the wire FROM the old fan and just connect them (obviously getting the colors right)?

I don't believe you always have to cnnect a fan to the motherboard...I think you can just connect it to the power supply. I'm not sure though.

ya just get one of the adapeters from 3 pin to molex
