Oh Bugger!! 1073741819 Error

Hi all,
my son has had a play on the wifes p.c and apparently invited a worm in!!
well at least that is what i think it is.


when i boot up my wifes p.c, get the automatic shutdown message with the above error code.
it comes on as it boots into the desktop.
it at no point gives me a chance to press the start button or anything else for that matter!
i can boot into safe mode and run hijackthis, but it found nothing worth worrying about. how can i stop the automatic restart from appearing?
how do i remove the critter?

SuperAntispware and run it...it'll probably find something if there is infact a worm or something along those lines.
