I need a new computer for collage and am planing on getting a decent PC for my dorm then a crappy laptop for taking to classes for notes ect..

i was planing on this for my comp

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ Dual Core Processor
ASUS M2N-E ATX AM2 Nforce 570 Ultra Motherboard
Corsair XMS2 TWIN2X2048-5400C4 2GB 2X1GB PC5400 DDR2-667
Gigabyte GeForce 8600GT 256MB
CPU Heatsinks Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro
A 400 watt power supply with 120 mm fan
Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB SATA2 3GB/S 7200RPM Hard Drive

does this seem decent? and is a 400 watt Power supply enough?
also what would be better
The Gigabyte GeForce 8600GT 256MB
or a ASUS Radeon X1950 Pro 581MHZ 256MB

i was thinking the geforce cause it might work better with the nforce motherbord?

I basically want something that can run recent games decently, for collage im taking computer networking systems tech, so im just looking for something that can multitask well and run fast.

The laptop im just gonna get whatevers cheap, its just gonna be used for draging around to classes, taking notes, transfering data.. ect

holy shit lol thats one hell of a power sucker for such a small thing, thats almost as much as my 212 120 watt guitar amp :S i think thats about 400 watts it uses lmao

Yeah a bigger psu is a must . Other than that that would be a pretty good machine .
If its for gaming maybe look into a core 2 duo system
