network problem

i have 2 comps and my other one cant see my first one. i tried it on the laptop and the laptop can access it. i also ried changing the router and still wouldnt work. any ideas

I have a similar problem, except that I don't use a router, just a crossover cable. My Notebook will find the desktop, but the desktop can't find the notebook. I haven't found a solution either.
