My son decided we needed to upgrade our old computer and i thought it would be a good project since the computer was indeed old and there was not a lot to lose even if the project went south.
I allowed my son to research the project and order the parts including a new motherboard and CPU and RAM but we ran into a problem. The old computer has a 9 pin front panel connector block but the motherboard has a 16 pin font panel connector.
Short of getting a whole new motherboard is there a way to use what we have? Is there some sort of adapter or can we take apart the connector block and connect the wires individually? If so how do we figure out which wires to connect to which pins?
Thanks
