i have a sony vaio k series, when i plug it into a known good outlet with a known good power plug it will begin to boot, but right about the time it posts it dies, killing the plug with it...... i know that a dead cmos battery can kill the computer but what would drag the power cord down with it?? the only thing i can think of would be damage to one of the boards, any suggestions on what to check would be appreciated.....
