Need advice.

OK so i bought my first build (all the parts haven't arrived yet) and tonight i just notice that my mother board doesnt support PCI 2.0x16 but PCI x16. I was building on a budget (I only spend $270.00).

So i would like to know, What is the best PCI x16 video card? I know they are not used anymore so there must be a very good one.

I just want to play WoW specifically. Anyone has suggestions? The recommended spec for WoW is the 8600gt.

wait... can i use modern day cards on a pcix16 slot??

Be aware that PCIe 2.0 16x WILL work on a 1.0 bus.

As Danny93 said, fortunately the companies involved with PCI Express all thought ahead and you can indeed use PCI Express X16 cards in any X16 slot. The different specs are just differing signal technologies that allow for higher bandwidth.

The 8600 GT will play wow, just not with all of the visuals cranked up. My laptop has the 8600M GT and it does a fine job at normal resolutions (1280x1024 for example is fine).
