My hard disc died

I started getting a warning message on my laptop about the eminent failure of hard disc. Shortly after, loading windows became a very slow process. Later I couldn't load windows anymore. I get a blue screen for a split second right after windows starts to load then the computer restarts every time. My question is is there a way for me to access my hard disc to retrieve some of my work related information? A friend of mine was saying something about loading windows from another computer then trying to find the info I need. Not sure how to do that. Any help is much appreciated.

That if you're lucky OR going to a specialised place that will open your HDD in a sealed machine that will open everything up andthen spin the HDD and backup everything on a CD...which could cost a chunk

It was a SMART warning. It basically said to back up everything, as your hard drive was going to die.

If you haven't backed it up - unlucky. The hard drive is dead.

It's too late sorry.
