Is my graphics card broken or. . .?

Hi All, I think I may have an issue with my 7950 GTX grpahics card. I just powered the laptop up in the morning as you do, and I see weird patterns and shades of disstortion on my screen. I re-formatted my laptop (Dell XPS M1710) thinking it may help ressolve the issue, but sadly it didnt. I have tried to re-install the graphbics driver, but it seems to install it then it freezes my PC and my screen flickers.
