I would like to know if this is a good computer? And if anything could be upgraded?

AMD ATHLON 64BIT DUAL CORE 4.4GHZ processor

2GB PC3200 RAM

500GB IDE hard drive (1x 300GB, 1x 200GB)

ATI X700 PRO 256MB PCI express Graphics card

16x16 DVD/RW DUAL LAYER primary drive

52x32x52 CD/RW slave drive

3 1/2 floppy drive

You mean AMD Athlon 64 4400+ / 2.20GHz. All those parts would be nice, but what brands/models are you considering? Just throwing out components really doesnt help much ... hell I'd rather have 4gb of memory if my board supports it, ... will yours? With hard drives, I'd consider SATA or SATA2 over IDE ... little more speed couldnt hurt. But we got to know what brands/models you would like to work with for compatibility's sake.

I heard you need a special type of power supply to use SATA hdd aswell as SLI for twin graphics cards. My board does handle a max of 4GB 400MHZ RAM.

also, why do ATI suck?

Looks good to me.. ;)

ATI doesn't suck.. ussually its just an opinion of people..
Some like nVidia better, and some like ATI better.. I personally prefer nVidia, although neither are bad.

yeah it's just I ain't been building computers long, last one I built was ok. But I didn't do great etc.

This one I need to be very fast. I don't think there's a 'nice priced' ATI SLI graphics card out there.

lol.

well I don't know what to do with graphics cards. it's either invest in a new 512MB card or pay extra for 2 SLI nvidia cards. or stick with a simple ATI X700 PRO 256MB card
