I live with it for a while, but now I need it. Msconfig doesn't work on my computer. I go to start, run, and typ msconfig in the thing but nothing comes up. I've tried all different cases and i tried putting .exe at the end!
I even went to the help and support center and tried to open it there... with no luck. Helllp!

Try looking in this location and see if it is there:

C:\WINDOWS\pchealth\helpctr\binaries

Yep, it is there. I did the unthinkable and clicked it, and the explorer window it was in froze up.

Have you checked for viruses and spyware? Post a hijackthis log here. Is that the only thing not working, what about task manager?

System Restore doesn't work, and I can't install a printer (though that one is more likely unrelated).
Task manager works fine.

I'm downloading abroswer that will work with housecall (ie5 wont lol and neither will opera), then i'll run it. I'm running a virus check now even though i'm pretty sure thats not the problem. regedit works fine.

well, task manager and regedit work fine, so it doesn't seem to be that virus.
I downloaded process explorer and all my processes are legit.
i gotta restart my computer to run ie7 and then i'll run housecall. the virus scan turned up nothing.

Right, simple way to confirm a virus. When you get a chance goto safe mode and try and open msconfig there. If it works there its a virus.
