motherboard seating question

i am installing a motherboard in my case and it has 8 little brass risers i have installed the risers into the case but it doesnt have the little red washers do i need them ? will the pc work without them

The washers go between the screw and the top of your motherboard. They are just to protect the board should you screw them down too tight. You don't need them but please do not force the screw too tight. With 8 screws in your board it's not likely to move about.
