Motherboard conflict w/DVD Burner

I just attempted to update my drivers of my K8 Neo2 Platinum. When doing so, my computer shut down and would not restart back into windows. I started disconnecting hardware and found that if my new I/O Magic DVD burner was unplugged, the comp. would start just fine. There is no driver for the burner, and I re-installed the CD that came with the drive. It didn't help. What do I do?

AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 90nm @ 2.01GHz
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
Saphire RADEON 9800 Atlantis
Corsair ValueSelect 512mb PC3200
Maxtor 160GB SATA
Zalman Ultra Quiet CPU Cooler
SilentMax 400W
SyncMaster 955Df

When you said you updated the Drivers, did you install any BIOS updates.

Also, Did you install the nVidia SW drivers during the update? This could be the problem.

Hold F8 during boot up and select Safe Mode. Go to your device manager and under IDE ATA/ATAPI devices, uninstall the Primary and Secondary controllers and any other devices within IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers. restart the PC and tell me if you are still having problems.
