More ram or Better Video Card?

I upgraded from a completely stock HP media center PC, to 4gb of ram, new gaming mobo, new gaming case, new 8800GTS, and 22 inch lcd. I honestly couldnt be happier with it. The improvement was astronomical ;] New card for sure. For $ purposes, Id stick to a 6800 or something.

If he has XP, a 7600 will perform just about the same as a 8600. No point in going DX 10 if XP doesn't support it.

Looking back, he never specified. So who knows. If you have vista, get the 8600, if not 7600.

It can. If you plan on running a high resolution, which the maximum usually increases with screen size, then it may bring performance down a little, or a lot. As to how much, it depends on the resolution and your hardware.
