Monitor resolution problem

I have 19" ASUS lcd monitor and its max resolution must be 1440 x 900, but in my display setting as maximal resolution is showing 1600 x 1050. On the first resolution the pictire is not good, the icons are not sharp and clear (this shouldnt be like this), and on the second res the picture and icons are great but very very small. My monitor doesn't require any drivers, but this might be a solution; and I have installed drivers for the graphic card. The resolve is not with increasing the font (dpi) if someone might think.

You can resize your icons a couple different ways. Go to Appearance in display properties and change the font size. You need to set you graphics card to the native resolution of the monitor for it to be clear. Your "second" setting sounds like it is native resolution for you monitor. Just set you fonts and Icons to a larger size.
