modem troubles

hey,

i have a Speedtouch 530 ADSL modem/router. My current provider is telstra bigpond (for all the aussies).

Heres my problem two days ago i bought a Netgear wireless router. I hook it all up and start the components in the proper order but cannot access the internet.

I called Netgear first and the told me that because the Speedtouch 530 is a modem router it needs to be switched to a plain modem. I called telstra and they told me that it had something to do with changing my PPOA to a PPOE, naturally I had no idea what those things were. Other than that though telstra offered me no further guidance saying that they "did not support networking systems together"

You guys are my last hope before i lose all sanity. Is there anyway to switch my ModemRouter to just a plain Modem. PLEASE! shed some light on my situation.

try the internet connection wizard. Its worked for me 98% of the time. If you have xp it should work.
