MIDI Keyboard Software

Hey everyone.
I recently (for christmas in fact) got a Casio CTK-591 MIDI Keyboard. I got it basically for playing notes on the keyboard, having the notes transferred to the Computer, and editing them with Software.

I currently have a Creative Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 soundcard.
It has NOT got a MIDI In/out Plug, but it has a "JoyStick" Plug (or is it Game Input??). My MIDI Keyboard has only MIDI in and out..

My questions are:
1. Will this cable allow me to do what i want to do?
2. What free software is on the net that will do what i want to do?
3. If this cable is not what i want, do i need a soundcard with MIDI in/out?
4. Can the Joystick/Game Input work the same as Midi in/out??

I can see that there are no replies here on this forum, but i am curious if you have found and answer to this question as I have the same problem. Also coincidently I too recieved a CTK-591 for Christmas and I also wanted it primarily to use as a controller. I also bought a joystick midi cable which I have plugged into the joy port 0f my Creative SB audigy. I cant seem to send sounds in but i can get the computer to output sounds out to the Casio. Completley the opposite of what i am trying to acheive.

any help would be appreciated thanx.
