I've seen an Intel Quad-Core Xeon CPU on ebyuer Here and an Intel Core 2 Quad Core Here - and since they both use 64-bit processing, are compatible with the LGA775 motherboard socket, both have 8Mb L2 Cache and both have a Bus speed of 1066MHz - but the Xeon is £146 ($292) and the Core 2 Quad is £165 ($330)...

So could i just get the Xeon instead  even though its designed for use with servers and stuff?

Thanks!

Well the Q6600 is higher clocked, so it's faster. But you could easily overclock the Xeon to those speeds and much higher.

Depends. I'd say if you're overclocking, get the Xeon. If not, you'd be better off with the Q6600.

hmm thats interesting aint it.

you think there is any performance diff or u think its just same CPU diff name ?

Edit: jus googled a bit and turns out yes they pretty much the same excep the xeon runs alot hotter
