Default Intel Core 2 Quad Q9400, will it bottleneck current gen cards (GTX 470 etc)

I've got a Core 2 Quad Q9400 running at 3.20GHz in my pc (can push it to 3.44ghz but that isnt as stable). I would like to upgrade my GPU from a GTX 260 to a GTX 470 (or possible a 480 or 5870) but would I also need to upgrade to an i7 to prevent it being bottlenecked? Its just id rather not shell out almost 500 on a new motherboard, ram and cpu if it is not neccessary. Thanks for any advice.

You should be just fine. Actually, you could probably run GTX 480 SLI before it bottlenecks in most games.
