right now my comptuer has been taken over by a spyware/virus. It affects ie 6 by changing the home page (which should be msn) to "about:blank". norton didnt detect it, and adaware, and hijackthis didnt detect it or detected it but couldnt fully remove it. i saw a way to fix it for xp, but i have 2000 and was wondering if any of you could help me through this problem. Its robbing my comptuer of speed which it doesnt have much of, and is really annoying. thanks

this is the web site that had a fairly well explained way of removing it but its specifically made to fix xp http://computercops.biz/postt43426.html

Now you know why i stick with 5.5 and XP users can't.
Best i can do.

IE 5.5 is worse than IE6 for exploits, practically (though not definitly) all bugs and exploits that exist in IE 6 also exist in IE 5x and more.
there are also several well documented bugs that shoul dhave persuaded you to upgrade by now. not least the bug in the Bitmap processor (which was discovered a long time ago, and then re-discrovered when the source was leaked earlier this year.). The bug enables an attacker to run code on your machine as you browse the internet and only affects IE 5.x users.

mozilla for firefox man.....
download a program called Hijackthis and see if that works
