I recently got a HP laptop. I think its decent specs its a pentium M with about 512 of ram. However, I have heard that HP puts tons of added on extras with all their laptops. (I had no choice to go with the HP because my job got it for me). Basically out of the box there were something like 40 processes running when going to task manager. And now that i have actually downloaded some things whenever i start up i have 46 processes running which really slows my computer and i dont know what things i can delete. Do you know of any techniques to get rid of the additional software that HP added on that i dont need.

to get rid of the software, you can go to the add/remove programs box and just uninstall any programs you don't want.
and for the processes, you can turn off the services you don't need by going through the black vipers list and disabling them http://www.dead-eye.net/WinXP Services.htm that is a mirror site.
