how to enable 4 monitors on 4870 x2

My 4870 x2 supposedly is able to support 4 monitors, but it only has 2 DVI outputs. In CCC, it shows 6 monitor profiles, but 2 are grayed out on the 4870 x2. Do I just need to buy some sort of adapter to split the dual-link DVI or what?

at a guess it means in SLI mode? just a guess (a second graphics card)

the 4870 x2 is actually 2 hd 4870's in crossfireX (ATI version of SLI)

it depends on what version you get, i beleive some cards come with 4 DVIs. and it depends on how many DAC's come on each card.

nope, all the 4870 x2's have 2 DVI's

I think you're thinking of the 4850 x2 that has 4 DVI's

Is there a way I can split the dual link signals to have one going to each monitor? that seems to be how its setup.

ya, you can get that, just google DVI splitter cable.
though they would both be clones of each other.

yeah, what I want is something that can split the dual link signal of each DVI into 2 single link DVI's.

it would take circuitry to split 1 signal into 2 separate independent signals. and a splitter doesn't have a DAC on it.
