How To Compress using WinRAR?

Hi there! I know nooby question but I have a file that is 791MB I used WinRAR and it made a file that was only 739MB. That doesn't seem like much of a compression to me. That kind of got me thinking whether I did it right or not, I was expecting a bigger compression than that!

Anyway, does that sound right to you? If not, could you show me the steps in properly compressing it? I read the help and thats how I got to 739MB.

The reason I ask is because I want to burn this file onto a disc and my disc is only 700mb.

Right click, add to archive, use RAR, and select compression method of "Best".

Either way I will believe it will work...it has since almost all the versions I would assume?

Its also the files you are trying to compress.

Some files don't have any space in the code, or anything to narrow down any more and change (the basis of compression). For instance, videos won't compress much more in a RAR file.
