i have an hp desktop not sure the name my buddy bought a new motherboard power supply and was give to me like a skeleton hooked everything up but fans will not power up but power supply does but cd drive and dvd drive has power radeo vidoe card powers up but will not boot up maybe pluging wrong or somthing???? thx guys

Sounds like a motherboard problem. Probably the reason your buddy bought new stuff. The exact same thing happens to my older HP desktop, I have yet to figure out what it is.
