I have 2 in mind just for basic use, maybe light gaming (nothing intensive). I have a PCI-e 16x slot on one of my mobos so I figured I should take advantage of it.

nVidia GeForce 7100GS

nVidia GeForce 7300LE

I picked these, but I can't decide between them. I don't know what GDDR2 is over DDR... I'm probably leaning towards the 7300LE over the other, but I need other people's opinions because I don't know what all the specs mean...

If you have more suggestions besides these, I'm not opposed to them. No prices any higher than what these are. I need something that's available at newegg.com because I have a bunch of other stuff to buy from there and I like to buy a lot of stuff at once.

Not bad except that I'm not a person that has ever trusted mail in rebates. We mailed on in one time and never got the rebate, the other we got probably almost a year later. I prefer the regular price to be $45 or less.

Ok, I just figured it was just a rebranded nVidia card, I didn't figure they did anything to it (other than maybe changing heatsinks/fans), so I didn't really worry about the brand name so much.

ATi and nVidia just provide the GPU(graphics processing unit) which is kind of like the CPU of a video card the manafacter(MSI for example) puts everything on it like the RAM(which they buy from another company) the cooling and they print the circuit board

i would honestly wait until you have a little more money both of those cards are not going to make a very noticable difference but if you spend around 100$ you could get a card thatl be worth waiting for.

if you cant wait get this its a little more but its definatly worth the money

if you change your mind and can wait get this

even with the rebates those are the cheapest ones

Thanks for the info, I didn't know they did that. I'll stay away from the not-so-well-know brands on video cards from now on. My brother bought a Visiontek card with an ATI GPU for his system and it has been working fine, that's why I thought it would be ok to get the chaintech card.

hey,

i have the 7100GS i originally bought it for a cheap crad to dual screen with but turns out its not too bad of a graphics card once you do a lil overclockin

The PC I'm putting the card in isn't the most amazing system:

ASRock board VIA chipset
2.8GHz Celeron
256MB (soon to be 512MB, 2X 256MB) DDR 400 PC3200
40GB PATA (soon to be 80GB SATA)
Antec 300 watt PSU
DVD ROM drive
CD-RW drive

The soon to bes will be bought at the same time as the graphics card I'm getting on newegg.

aCb, which of those cards do you recommend for this system?
