Hi guys,
Could somebody please point me in the direction of how to choose the very best RAM modules for my laptop please?
I have researched RAM specs in general, but it just gets so complicated!
A report of my current memory shows... (thanks to Everest ultimate edition - Great program!!)
[ DIMM1: Nanya NT256D64SH8C0GM-6K ]
Memory Module Properties:
Module Name Nanya NT256D64SH8C0GM-6K
Serial Number C9B31891h (2434315209)
Module Size 256 MB (2 ranks, 4 banks)
Module Type Unbuffered
Memory Type DDR SDRAM
Memory Speed PC2700 (166 MHz)
Module Width 64 bit
Module Voltage SSTL 2.5
Error Detection Method None
Refresh Rate Reduced (7.8 us), Self-Refresh
Memory Timings:
@ 166 MHz 2.5-3-3-7 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 10-12-2 (RC-RFC-RRD)
@ 133 MHz 2.0-3-3-6 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 8-10-2 (RC-RFC-RRD)
[ DIMM2: Nanya NT256D64SH8C0GM-6K ]
Memory Module Properties:
Module Name Nanya NT256D64SH8C0GM-6K
Serial Number 97B41897h (2534978711)
Module Size 256 MB (2 ranks, 4 banks)
Module Type Unbuffered
Memory Type DDR SDRAM
Memory Speed PC2700 (166 MHz)
Module Width 64 bit
Module Voltage SSTL 2.5
Error Detection Method None
Refresh Rate Reduced (7.8 us), Self-Refresh
Memory Timings:
@ 166 MHz 2.5-3-3-7 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 10-12-2 (RC-RFC-RRD)
@ 133 MHz 2.0-3-3-6 (CL-RCD-RP-RAS) / 8-10-2 (RC-RFC-RRD)
I can understand the specs to some degree, but how am I supposed to know the maximum specs for RAM my laptop can take? All I know at the moment is that it can hold up to 2GB. But could somebody explain how to determine the top speed I can use and stuff like that?
Any help would be really appreciated!
Thank you!
