hello hard drive problem?

windows xp profesional sp2
asus a8n-sli deluxe mobo
amd 64 4000+
nvidia geforce 6600

anyway today i bought a new sata/300 harddrive to replace my old ide harddrive

the new harddrive is a maxtor 7h500f0 500gb sata
spec: sata/300, 16mb buffer 8.5ms seek time:7200rpm

my problem is under windows it says its just a 127gb harddrive
in the bios it says 500gb and on the harddrive itself. im confussed whats wrong here?
