having trouble connecting my comps

ok one machine is vista home premium. the other is xp. in vista i can see my laptop1 computer but when i click on it vista asks me for my user name and password. this is where i get stuck as everything i thought to be correct it doesnt like. any help on the matter? also i cant seem to get any harddrives in xp to show up from vista.

there connected with an ethernet cat 5.e cable. ip address are setup right as they seem to connect correctly on that part. windows firewalls are also turned off.

any help or anb easy to understand guide would be good.
