Reformatting/Reinstalling Windows
The first thing you do when you want to reinstall Windows is to backup all important files (if necessary). Just burn them to a cd or something.
Now, to reinstall Windows, you have to format your hard drive first. What you do is stick your Windows CD into the CD drive, and reboot your computer. Make sure the BIOS is set to boot from CD. Now when it gets to the screen saying "press any key to boot from cd", press any key. It will load some important drivers and such for the CD-rom, motherboard, and processor. This usually takes about 2-3 minutes. After that finishes, it should get to another blue screen with alot of writing.
Now scroll up and down with your arrow keys to choose which partition you want to install windows on, and press enter. It will tell you that "Windows XP setup will now format this with the NTFS file system". Just press enter. Depending on the size of your hard drive, this can take from about 5 minutes all the way to 1 hour. Once that is finished, the installation is pretty straight forward. Just click next, next, next, finish.
After the installation is finished, it tells you to reboot or it says "your system will reboot in 20 seconds". Just take the cd out during this time. When it reboots, it should go into the "make a user" utility. Just follow the instructions to make your user and activate your copy of XP.
