Faster Ram= Better Performance?

ok i have two sticks of 512mb samsung ram thats pc2-4300. i also of 2 sticks of 1gb kingston ram thats pc2-5300.

Would it be better if i took the two 512s out so my ram can be faster or is it better to have 3gbs of ram instead of 2gb?

I'm not sure you would notice the difference. If you did, I think it would be a disadvantage, but I'm just guessing on that.

The PC2-5300 isn't really that much faster then the PC2-4300, so you're not going to see an improvement in speed using it by itself. You'd be better off running it along with the PC2-4300 so you'll have a full 3GB available.

Yea the jump between PC2-5300 from PC2-4300's wont really be very noticeable, but upgrading the actually amount of RAM you have would give you a more obvious improvement. Run them together in dual channel
