External Hard Drive Problems!!! :(

Hey Guys, I Recently Bought A 2Tb External HDD And It Was Working Perfectly Up Until Yesterday When It Decided To Stop Working, Now When I Plug it In 2 Removable Disks Appear And It Says I have To Format Them to Get It To Work, But, i have Too Many Valuable Items On It And About A Years Worth Of Tv-Shows I Collected So Really DO NOT Want To Format It, I Tried The Chkdisk Command And That Did Nothing, Any Suggestions??????

i think if its asking to format you have had it. When you plug the drive in does it pop up in disk manager?

it doesnt pop up, i have to look for it in my computer, then after about 10 mins it pops up format disk....FML
