This'll be my first build and I wanted a second set of eyes to look at it and make sure everythings compatible with eachother.

Also if you know any parts that I should steer away from, or any recommendations would be awesome.

Is there anything Im missing besides fans, a moniter, keyboard and mouse?

Thanks in Advance

it all works together. if you have the money i would upgrade your MOBO and CPU, socket A stuff is really out of date.

Nice...

Only thing I would change is the hard drive and the dvd combo.
Samsung makes the spin point 80 series OEM drives for around $59.00USD. 80 gigs. It's 2mb cache is the same as the maxtor but it's quiet as a church mouse and runs very cool. $9.00 more and you get twice the space.
As for the dvd drive I again would go with the Samsung. The 16x dual layer dvd/cd burner combo is fast and reads or burns just about anything you toss in it. $59.00USD. I would be real leary about a $27.00 dvd/cd combo drive. Brand names and warranties are just as important as the proformance of the device.
I get the Samsung from> www.microcenter.com

I wouldn't got socket A. Its outdated. Go with socket 939. May cost you a littel more buy I assure you it will be well worth the extra money when you go back to ugprade. As well I'd go PCI Express instead of APG.

Wow, thanks for all the replies so fast.

Yeah I thought about going socket 393, but I didnt realize the price difference was so little (only about 120 bucks more then my first plan)

So now Im thinking a Abit AX8 motherboard with a Athlon 64 3000+. Instead of the APG videocard, a PCI express Sapphire X600pro and a Samsung 80GB hd.

Everything else I might be able to get out of an older PC my friends about to scrap. Anymore comments are welcome

Thanks for the help

That looks a lot better. I don't know about the hard drive though. I'm not well developed into hard drives so you should ask seti on that one. But that looks good. Much better.

Yea. I was going go socket A when I first planed to upgrade my comp. But then well I came to this fourm. Saw socket 939 was teh way to go for AMD. O yea and this fourm is like a chatroom. Normally when I ask a question I get replied within 5 or 10 mins.
