dvd drive problem

Ok my father has a dvd burner and he likes to make slide show of the family and put them on dvd well he burned one 2 weaks ago and now when he tries to burn another one it will not reconize a dvd so can anyone help me/ tell me why it is not reconizeing dvd all of the sudden it will not even reconize a dvd movie but it does reconize cd and it will also burn cds

have you tried to uninstall the drive then let windows detect it again?
