I have an Inspiron E1705 with Windows XP pro. My DVD drive does read DVDs, but it will not read Data CDs.
When the CDs are inserted, it acts as if it's reading them, but then never displays anything. The light on the drive stays lit green, but when you click on the drive icon it opens, but there is nothing indicated as being on it.
I have uninstalled and re-installed the drivers, but that has not worked.
Any ideas as to what could cause this and how it can be fixed?
