dual monitors help

I got a new computer and I know it has 2 cards in it and all so i wanted to run a dual monitor setup. I can get on to work but the other always says no signal. I tried restarting. unplugging the monitor and updating windows etc and nothing seems to make it pick up video. When i go to the screen reso setup itll detect the vga is there but nothing pops up on the other screen. Anyone know a way to help?

How is the computer set up? One onboard video output and one video card?
or
2 completely different video cards?

i think its 2 different cards...
