Dual Core Problem

I have a Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 processor and after an hour or two or after i play a game the CPU usage is around 50 percent. 100 % on one core and about 3-5 % on the other. Do you have any explanations or is this a faulty processor. I also have a Gigabyte 945GM-S2 motherboard with 512 mb of ram.

Sounds like it's working fine as most games will only utilize one core.

After i turn the game off the CPU usage will stay at 50 percent for as long as the computer is on. is this still normal?

You got me there. Have you tried looking in Task manager to see if anything is running?

no everything that was running before the game is still running nothing extra and wats wierd is that there is 100 percent usage on one core and 3-5 on the other one.

Hmm. . . Other than checking in Task Manager for any running programs or processes, the only thing I can come up with at the moment is to try running a virus/spyware scan. Maybe something is lurking in your comp.

D/load and run Process Explorer, it will tell you what is using your cpu. as to the games, like Atomic Rooster stated, if they're not multi threaded they'll only use one core.

maybe your using a anti virus that require you to scan everytime your using your pc.
