Dell Inspiron 1525 Screen Problem

When I tried to turn my Inspiron 1525 on today, the unexpected shut down and start windows normally messages came up. I pressed enter and the computed screen turned black, but the cursor was visible. I turned the computer off and then back on and it went through the dell screen I usually see when turning on, then one that said resuming windows, then again it just went to black with the cursor visible. Any suggestions?? Thanks!! I should also add that I am fairly basic when it comes to computers, so straightfoward answers would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

i had that happen to me the other day just run your computer in safe mode check your display settings and that make shore all are workin properly then start normally again
