I've just bought a 2.8 ghz 533fsb/1mb cache Presscot cpu,my ques is will it b compatible with ddr400 or will i have 2 use ddr333 ram? Sorry if my ques seem stupid.

I ask this becuase i was reading the specs of a particular m/board & it said if u have 533fsb it will only support 266/333ddr,is this the "general rule of thumb" with 533fsb cpu's? or was it just the characteristics of this particular board?

I'm guessing that's the main spec for most boards, but I am probably wrong, but at any rate you should stick to what it suggests.

Depends on the motherboard, if it says ddr400 then its fine. It will still support a 400 if its rated at 333, but will run at 333 speeds.

I'm still lost here, i think what i'm tryin to ask is, can i use pc3200 & have it running at 400mhz with this cpu? ie do i buy pc3200 or 2700?

Just buy pc2700 to not get you confused lol.
