chaging file extensions

XVID? Odd format there (to me anyways). Just out of curiosity, what did you use to get that file extension?

If Windows Movie Maker (I know it's a pain, but it might work) can open that file, then you can save it as an MPEG... But I don't think it will. Try a few Google searches; I bet there's probably something out there that will get the job done.

Hope that helps.

I know all that stuff; xvid is an Audio Vidio Interlace or avi file format which uses a reverse format of divx!
If you can't play the movie, download VLC media player, it is free and it plays basically all types of media files.
If you want to convert it CUSOFT has a program to convert .avi to .mpeg. Nero version 6.x can convert the file to a VCD format which you will be able to view on your DVD player if this is the reason you want to convert it.
