CD-Drive won't run CDs

I've searched for this topic already but couldn't find it. Sorry if my question has been answered already:

My computer won't run any CDs. First off, I put in "The Movies", but nothing shows up. So I double-click on the movies icon.. no luck. Then I put in a DVD... still no luck. I went to My Computer but still no luck as the cd drive icon hasnt changed. i click on my cd drive, but still nothing.

Help?

I'm running Windows XP.

Try uninstalling the drive, go to device manager, and uninstall all the optical drives, and then restart...Or maybe try updating the drivers.
