Building a computer...need help

Hello,

First of all, thank you for reading my thread, I appreciate it.
I am going to build a computer, but I honestly know nothing, when it comes to hardware. So, I have the things such as CD/DVD Drives, Floppy Drives, IDE Hard Drive, Speakers, Monitor, Keyboard, Mouse, Case, A Legal Version of Windows, and such. But, I need a new motherboard and CPU, along with a Video Card and PSU. I spoke with somebody from this forum recently, and they suggested the following PSU and Video card:

So, basically, I need help finding a CPU and Motherboard. There isn't really a budget, but that doesn't mean I want to spend as much as I can This computer will be used for gaming, by the way. Any help that you can provide is appreciated.

i like the graphics card, as for the PSU, im not sure, dont know much about them...

Graphics card is fine.

Get a better PSU. Take a look at the Seasonic S12 series.

it depends on if you want intel or amd i guess

(AM2, its newer so get that)

So, is all of this compatible? And is the motherboard compatible with an IDE Hard Drive and such? And I may as well ask, just in case, is there anyway to make this a little cheaper?

well you could wait for conroe and see what options it gives u. although i would reconcider your options from video card and PSU.

video card issue: has 128-bit memory interface (you want 256)

PSU issue: no dual 12V rail (you want dual +12V)

as for CPU and motherboard i have to ask if you plan on buying new ram as well

I intend to purchase new RAM as well, yes. Copperhead posted 2 various types of RAM compatible with the motherboard. What exactly is "Conroe"? What video card would you suggest? Same question for PSU.

well conroe is intels latest desktop processor they released like a week ago. i will go look ^ video card and PSU for u now
